THIS WEEK'S THROUGH-LINE
Attention is the asset. Everything else is downstream of it.

Welcome Note

Thanks for reading the thirty-first issue of The Advantage. This one is brought to you by Proppel. Details on Proppel and the discount for Advantage readers are at the end of the newsletter.

This week is about distribution. Owning an audience is the asset almost every other advantage now sits on top of.

Worth Watching is my conversation with Vitalii Dodonov, co-founder and CTO of Stan. Zero to more than $30 million in revenue with fewer than 30 people, profitable, and no traditional advertising. He walks through exactly how they did it.

Then, in the Practical Edge, the smallest possible way to start doing this yourself. One 20-page PDF on the narrow thing you already know cold, live by Sunday night. Let's get into it.

WORTH WATCHING:

$30M in Revenue. Under 30 People. Zero Ad Spend.

Watch: Mike Wystrach and Vitalii Dodonov on The Advantage

The Advantage · Mike Wystrach × Vitalii Dodonov · ~49 min

This week's Worth Watching is episode 2 of The Advantage with Vitalii Dodonov, co-founder and CTO of Stan. Zero to more than $30 million in annual revenue in five years. 85,000 creators. Over $600 million earned by those creators. Fewer than 30 people, profitable, and not one dollar of traditional advertising. If you want the actual playbook behind numbers like that, it is in this hour.

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT IT:

Stan takes no commission. You make a million dollars on the platform, you keep the million. That alone is worth the listen, because Vitalii walks through exactly how they modeled giving up that revenue and why the larger share of the market was the better trade.

Then he gives you the real engine. Build a product so good that customers cannot help talking about it, then build the machine that channels those stories into distribution. He is specific about how they did it, and it is repeatable.

The best part is why they built Stanley, their new AI head of content. When they studied what separated the creators winning on Stan from the ones who were not, the answer was audience. So they went straight at it and built the thing that creates distribution for you. Every founder should be paying attention to that shift.

THE LINE THAT STUCK
"You can go to TikTok and you can make an account, you can create viral content, you can accumulate a lot of attention. The question is, what do you do with that attention?"
MY 20-SECOND RECAP
if you do not have the full 49 minutes

→Build the thing worth talking about. Great products create stories, and stories create customers. Stan grew to $30 million on that alone.

→Solve for distribution. Attention is the asset. Build your audience and every product you launch lands on a warm crowd.

→Be your own first customer. The best company to start is one you would use. That gives you the intuition to build it and the language to sell it.

→Every founder is now a creator. Telling your story publicly recruits better people, earns investor trust, and builds customer belief before the first call.
